WHAT IS A BLUETOOTH LOW ENERGY BEACON?
A Bluetooth low-energy beacon is a small device that transmits a persistent Bluetooth signal for long periods of time. Typically these are used for advertising or in interior mapping applications.
Using the Bluetooth Low-Energy these beacons can last for months or even years on a single battery. There are a few formats (AltBeacon, iBeacon, etc) but generally there are all very similar.
WHAT KIND OF BEACON CAN I USE?
Generally any small iBeacon compatible Bluetooth low-energy beacon will work. These typically cost $10-$15 dollars (US).
They can be bought from vendors directly or from Amazon or other sources.

Set Beacon Type to "iBeacon"
Set Transmit Power to "+4dBm"
Set Advertisement Interval to "500ms"
Set iBeacon UUID to any random UUID (click here to generate a unique UUID) but keep a copy of this (you'll need this for the App Configuration)

Ok performance but difficult to configure. Open and temporarily remove battery to reset and enter configuration mode. (will flash blue light)
